Introduction

This page is just a brief general history of my Haydon/Hayden line. A gedcom page is coming soon.


My Haydon family came to Texas from Missouri in the 1860's.  
They settled somewhere around the Burnet and Travis County line.

William Burgess Haydon, my 3rd great grandfather was born in 1812 in 
Kentucky.  He was the son of John W. Haydon and Elizabeth COREY. 

John Haydon came from Virginia, the Northumberland County area, and 
settled in Woodford county. He was ther in 1820, and 1830.  By 1832,
the family had moved to Illinois, and by 1835, they were in Missouri.

John Haydon had several daughters and three sons.  Only the names of 
two of the dasughters are known.

In 1840, John Haydon is living in Marion County, Missouri, although he
purchased 240 acres of land in Shelby County, in 1838.  It was from 
this land purchase where I learned that his middle initial was W.

In 1850, John is living in Shelby County, MO.  He is listed as 70 years
old, from Virginia. His wife, Elizabeth, age 67, also from Virginia.
There are four children living in their household;

David age 30, KY
Elizabeth age 27, KY
Ruthy age 18, Illinois, and
John age 15, Missouri.

William Burgess is in Chariton with his first wife Neoma HARRISON.  
They had the following children;

David C. md. Elizabeth W A SMITH. 

Jeannette  md.  William GARNER, and then Joel A. HARRIS, had several 
children. She lived in Oregon.

Mary Jane md. James SNYDER

Permilia F.  md. James Henry PARISH, and had a large family

William Henry md. Mary Ellen WOOLVERTON, and had four children. He 
recieved a pension for Confederate service in the Civil War. 

Laura Belle  md. Cephas COLTON, and lived in Washington. 

William Burgess md. in 1852 to Malinda GARNER, sister of Jeannette's 
husband, William GARNER.  Malinda and Burgess had the following 
children;

John C. HAYDON  md. Annie GILLILAND 

Burgess Wiley HAYDON md. Martha Harriett HUDSON (my great-great grandparents.)

Francis HAYDON md. Robert M. GILLILAND.  She had 4 children, and died in
Missouri.

William Burgess and Malinda divorced around 1862.  He married Mary
Mahalia HOOVER, and she married his brother, John R. HAYDEN. (He always
is found under HAYDEN as the spelling.)

William Burgess and Mahalia had;

Noah he married ______ had three children. He and his wife divorced, and
he lived with a son and daughter-in-law till he died.

George he was supposed to have lived in Oklahoma lin 1922, nothing known,

Daniel  died  young

Sarah md. ________ FLOWERS

Elizabeth died young



John R. HAYDEN and Malinda had the following children;

Jefferson B. HAYDEN lived in Dallas, and had several children

Thomas HAYDON md. Virgina GAMMOND

Florence "Florie" HAYDEN  md. Richard GORE, and had two daughters. They 
lived in Waco, Texas.

Jane "Jenny" HAYDN md. Louis Sidney MAY

Hiram HAYDON md. Della GREENFIELD Had a large family. They lived in Weatherford, Texas.
